He wasn’t implying that of you, Das. I’ve asked PB to leave me alone before. When I have, he has refused, repeatedly demanding to know why. Gamecat eventually had to step in and tell him to back off, to which he responded with protestations of confusion and wondering what he’d done wrong. He then dismissed the entire thread, effectively erasing the history of his harassment of me. His comment here, though not directly to me, nor a direct violation of Gamecat’s mod request, is still unacceptable.

Perhaps a more apt one may be what some call “creeping normality”, or the old adage of boiling a frog slowly. It is my adoration of Yes Minister and years of ill-directed education which drove me immediately to the salami tactics link, which had the most robust explanation (presented without me doing actual work on my one afternoon/evening off).

Let’s just get one thing clear here. Gamecat did not ask me “multiple times” to leave you alone. I commented something very nice and cordial to you, and you jumped in with “Never speak to me again”. I then asked if you were speaking to the correct person, as we’ve never had any problems before. You then said that yes, you were indeed speaking directly to me. I asked what I had ever done to warrant this request, you then said that you don’t have to explain anything to me, just leave you alone. Gamecat enters the discussion here, ASKING me to refrain from talking to you if you had asked, which you did. I then told him that I was clueless about what had just happened, and all I wanted to know is that if I had indeed done something offensive, to clear the air and apologize. End discussion.

This was one thread a few months ago or so. It is not “multiple times” I do not troll you. Stop trying to makes it sound like I do.

There is not a history of bad blood between us. You asked me not to chat with you, I didn’t. I have never spoken to you outside of Kinja, IRL, over emails, etc. I have no earthly idea who you are or why you’re trying to create this drama right now.

I didn’t talk to you. I didn’t address you. At this point, you’re more or less harassing me, and it’s a bit annoying. So, unless I’m speaking to you, don’t speak to me. I am asking you for that respect.

You’ve just stated two reasons why I struggle to understand your upset. If he didn’t reply to you directly and didn’t go against Gamecat’s request, why is his comment here still unacceptable?

I seem to remember skimming that conversation now and in my recollection that request came seemingly out of nowhere. The refusals to leave you alone, as you say, were merely comments in confusion asking you to explain the request, which I didn’t think were unfair, nor did I see that as harassment.

Dismissing a thread does not get rid of it entirely, it just hides it from public view on the post where the comment thread started. Direct links still exist and work as they did before dismissal so if you want to link me to the earlier conversation please do and I’ll happily reevaluate.

OK, I’ve re-read that and pretty much have to go with my earlier assessment. Pat was trying to understand your reasoning in the hopes of working on any issues, you offered no rational, only scathing.

What of the question in my previous comment?

Without explaining why a comment on a post of yours not in reply to you warrants a violation of your request, nor why this request was made in the first place this whole thing seems entirely irrational and I can’t understand why and how I should enforce it.
